RĪGA, Latvia
Latviešu strēlnieku laukumā

Latviešu Strelnieku piemineklis, 1915 - 1929 [Monument to Latvian Riflemen, the Latvian Red riflemen fought the Russian Imperial Army in WWI and later supported the Bolsheviks]. The sculpture, made by the artist Valdis Albergs (Rīga, 8 August 1922 - 10 November 1984, was unveiled in 1971. In 2000 this monument was dismantled, and replaced the following year with a new plaque where his relationship with the Russian army is not mentioned.
