Divadlo Jána
Palárika [Ján Palárik’s Theatre]. Founded in 1831 as one of
the first Slovak theater public buildings, it was built thanks to the common
effort of town authorities and citizens. The first performance in the theater,
which was performed in German, took place on 26 December 1831. The theater's
first performance was showcased Slovak only in 1869. Originally was called
simply Trnavské divadlo (Trnava
Theatre). The name of the dramatist
Ján Palárik (1822-1870) was imposed in 2001. The building was designed by the Austrian architect Bernhard Grünn.
