Bronze statue of the poet and journalist Johann Voldemar
Jannsen (Vana-Vändra Parish, 16 May 1819 - Tartu, 13 July 1890), a leader of the Estonian National Awakening, founder in 1857 of first newspaper in Estonian, the Perno Postimees (now, Pärnu Postimees). He is the author of the lyrics of the current national anthem of Estonia. The sculpture was made in 2007 by the artist Mati Karmin.
