BARCELONA, Spain. "The fish", sculpture made by Frank Gehry (1992)

Carrer de Ramon Trias Fargas Nº 2. Port Olímpic.

El Peix (The Fish, also known as the Golden Fish), sculpture 56 meters long and 35 meters high made by the Canadian architect, designer and sculptor Frank Owen Goldberg, known as Frank Gehry (b. Toronto, 1929).

The sculpture was installed next to the Olympic Port of Barcelona in 1992 for the Summer Olympic Games held that year in the city. It is made up of intertwined golden stainless steel strips supported by a metal structure. The interaction with the sun's rays creates the impression of scales, depending on the intensity of the light, and accentuates the organic form of this enormous work, which has become one of the identifying symbols of Barcelona.

KØBENHAVN, Denmark. Caritasbrønden

KØBENHAVN, Denmark
Strøget, Gammeltorv

Caritasbrønden, the oldest fountain of the city, built in 1608 in Renaissance style. At the top is the allegorical sculpture of Charity, symbolized by a pregnant mother with her children. The figure, originally made of wood by the German sculptor of the 17th century Statius Otto, was reproduced in bronze to put on this fountain. The woman throws water on her breasts, and a child urinated in the fountain’s water. In 1890 were placed golden dolphins around the figure, whose nakedness was considered obscene.

TALLINN, Estonia. Murals

TALLINN, Estonia
J. Sütiste tee

The drab old electrical substation building adjacent to Tallinn German Gymnasium (Tallinna Saksa Gümnaasium) was not a pleasing sight for the school's students. So, in October 2015, they came up with an idea to decorate the walls of the building with
sea life themed graffiti. The artwork was created by 11th-graders Katarina Klaamas and Eneli Tordik, with guidance by Erik Joasaare, TGG's development manager. The undertaking was sponsored by Elektrilevi, the utility company owning the substation.
The concept of the artwork comes from an idea popularized by the Estonian writer Valdur Mikita – since most of Estonia's electricity comes from oil shale, the petrified sediments of ancient sea life, those creatures now "dwell" all around Estonian power lines, light bulbs, home appliances, etc.
