brālības / Brotherhood of Blackheads
Saint Maurice (Thebes, Egypt, 3rd century – Agaunum,
actually in Switzerland, 287), decorative relief on the façade, to the left of
the portal. The Brotherhood of Blackheads, erected during the first third of
the 14th century, was an association of local unmarried merchants. The
structure was bombed to a ruin by the Germans 28 June 1941 and the remains
demolished by the Soviets in 1948. The current reconstruction was erected from
1995 to 1999.
