Żołnierza [‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’]. This memorial, a work
by the sculptor Stanislaw Kazimierz Ostrowski (Warsaw, 8 May 1879 - New York,
13 May 1947), was erected on 2 November 1925 to honor of the memory of soldiers
who died in the struggle for independence of Poland during
the World War I (1914-1918). Damaged during World War II,
was rebuilt in 1946 and restored between 1990 and 1991. It is installed on the colonnade (only preserved part) of destroyed Saxon Palace.
