Pediment and dome of the Four Courts (Na Ceithre Cúirteanna), location of the
Supreme Court and the High Court of the Republic of Ireland, and the Dublin
Circuit Court. The building was designed in Neoclassical style from 1768 by
the British architect Thomas Cooley (London, 1740 - Dublin, 1784), and when he
died the works were taken over by another architect, James Gandon (London, 20
February 1743 - Drumcondra, Dublin, 24 December 1823), who's finished in 1802.
The building was partially destroyed in 1922, during the Irish civil war and
rebuilt on the original plans, it was reopened in 1932.
