Uhrturm am Schloßberg [Clock Tower in Castle Hill]. This tower, 28 meters
high, has its origin in the fortifications of the 13th century, although its
present form is from 1560. In 1809, after the withdrawal of Napoleon's troops,
it became property of the city and was the only which it was preserved of the
fortifications, which were demolished. In each of its four sides there is a
watch more than 5 meters in diameter; these clocks were installed in 1712. At
the top of the tower there are three bells that emit different sounds: the
oldest, 1382, it gives the hours; another, in 1450, announced the executions
and, in the 19th century, the curfew; the most modern, 1645, served to warn of
fire. The whole tower underwent restoration work between 2008 and 2011.
