SPLIT, Croatia

Statue of medieval bishop Grgur Ninski [Gregorius Ninnius, Gregory of Nin, 10th century]. He opposed 
the Papacy in 926 and replaced Latin in the liturgy by the Slavonic language in Glagolitic alphabet. The sculpture is a work made in 1929 by the sculptor Ivan Meštrović (Vrpolje, Slavonia, 15 August 1883 - South Bend, Indiana, United States, 16 January 1962).
