BARCELONA, Spain.
Junction of Passeig Lluís Companys and Ronda de Sant Pere

Memorial to Lluís Companys (Tornabous, 21 June 1882 - Barcelona, shot by the regime of General Franco, 15 October 1940), Catalan Republican politician who was president of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia between 1 January and 7 October 1934, and from 4 March 1936 until his execution for ideological and political reasons. The sculpture is the work (1998) of the Spanish artist Francisco López Hernández (Madrid, 28 April 1932 - 8 January 2017).
