Łazienki Królewskie
Monument to composer and pianist Fryderyk (Frédéric) Chopin (Żelazowa Wola, 1 March 1810 - Paris, 17 October 1849), designed
in Art Nouveau style by the sculptor Wacław Szymanowski (Warsaw,
23 August 1859 - 22 July 1930) and inaugurated on 14 November 1926.
The pedestal and basin, made in red sandstone, was designed by the architect Oskar Sosnowski (St. Petersburg, Russia, 6 November 1880 - Warsaw, 24 September 1939).
On 31 May 1940 the monument was destroyed by the German occupiers, but the mold was preserved, so it was rebuilt and settled again on its original site on 11 May 1958.
