Detail of the façade of the Palácio do Raio [Raio Palace], built in Baroque style between 1754
and 1755 according to a design by the architect André Soares (Braga, 1720-1769).
In 1883 it became the property of the Holy House of Mercy (Santa Casa de Misericórdia) and settled in it some services Hospital de São Marcos [Saint Mark’s
Hospital]. In 1912 the building became a major restoration. Restored again in
2015, currently it has a museum function. Since 1956 it is classified as
Building of Public Interest.
